Tutoring program

Objectives

  • To contribute to the quality of higher education for students through the guidance of faculty mentors, implementing actions and strategies throughout their academic journey using both group and individual support methods with a humanistic approach, both preventative and remedial in nature.
  • To promote the comprehensive development of students by enhancing their academic, personal, and professional competencies, fostering their engaged integration into the workplace and society. This enables us to contribute to their academic persistence and timely completion of their studies.
  • To encourage individual and group mentoring through faculty tutors for the construction of learning, the development of skills, attitudes, and values that contribute to the successful completion of their studies.
  • To drive the increase in retention rates by identifying students' strengths and areas for improvement during the mentorship provided by faculty tutors.

 

Assignment of a tutor to oversee an entire group of students. Their commitment lies in preventing and identifying students at risk of failing, working with them to promote study habits and strategies, metacognition, and learning regulation. They also assist in directing students to the appropriate support services when needed. Psychopedagogical Departmentacademic, sports, or artistic student orientation groups, providing ongoing support and tracking progress until the student is fully integrated into regular academic activities.

Within our tutoring system, we facilitate one-on-one interactions between tutors and students to offer personalized support. This approach is particularly beneficial for students who have been identified as needing tutorial assistance but do not require immediate referral. These students may be facing a range of challenges, such as academic difficulties, motivation issues, or struggles with departmental interactions.

Schedule a minimum of 4 interviews with the student or tutored group. 

  • Initial Session: Introduction of the tutor and explanation of the program's objectives.  
  • Follow-up Session 1: Identifying Areas for Development Opportunities. 
  • Sessions 2 and 3: Follow-up or Remedial/Developmental Intervention to Promote Study Habits, Implementation of Motivational Courses or Workshops. 
  • Session 4: Assessment of Achievements and Conclusion of the Program.
